What You Need

Only basic gear is necessary for most of what our troop does.  When you join the troop, you’ll need to purchase a uniform and a scout book (see the “uniform” page).  These can be purchased at scoutshop.org.  The troop also owns some of these items that may work for you.  For campouts, you’ll need basic camping gear such as a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, mess kit, and flashlight.  For backpacking and boating trips, you’ll need a pack and some more lightweight gear.  More specific gear may be necessary for high adventure excursions.  The basic gear can be purchased almost anywhere, and the backpacking equipment can be purchased from some sporting stores, and some websites such as backcountrygear.com.  Any of the scouts or adults at troop meetings can give plenty of more specific guidance before your first events.
